We’ve got a Q for you, and it’s one that’s packed with protein, fiber, and a whole lot more.
At Path of Life, it’s no secret that we love quinoa. This super grain is a cornerstone of our recipes because it’s more than just a tasty addition to any meal, it’s packed full of nutritious goodness, too. Dating back somewhere between 3,000 and 4,000 years old, quinoa has been a staple of diets since it was first discovered in South America, in part because it’s easy to make, but also quinoa’s nutrient-dense qualities help fill you up a little bit faster.
One fun fact about quinoa is that though it’s a grain, it’s botanically related to spinach and amaranth, which means it’s got more in common with leafy greens than its grainy cousins. As a result, quinoa is truly unique in that it contains all nine essential amino acids, making it one of the most protein-rich foods that aren’t meat, dairy, or nuts. But that’s not all, quinoa has nearly double the fiber of other grains, while also containing iron, magnesium, riboflavin, manganese, and lysine. Did we also mention that quinoa is naturally gluten-free and may help manage blood sugar levels? When you put all that together, you have a tasty, versatile meal that will do your body a whole lot of good.
No matter what you’re in the mood for flavor-wise, quinoa is here to meet your needs. We use quinoa in six of our blends — The Original Quinoa & Kale, Asian Wok Quinoa Blend, Deep Roots Quinoa Blend, Mediterranean Quinoa Blend, Southwest Mango Quinoa Blend, and Tuscan Quinoa Blend — allowing us to freeze in quinoa’s goodness with other fresh veggies for a complete meal that will be ready whenever you need it. But just because we’ve made complete meals out of quinoa doesn’t mean you can’t use them in some other fun recipes. If you’re looking for some unique, flavor-packed ways to integrate quinoa into all of your daily meals, we’ve got some of our favorite recipes below.
